Training workshops

July has been a busy month with many training assignments. I would like to highlight the two workshops in KBU. The young lecturers were vibrant and interactive. The exchange of ideas enlightened me on many of the issues faced by lecturers and students in private colleges.
The enthusiasm of the lecturers together with their potential in the graphic media as well as their perceptiveness of issues related to the topics discussed contributed to the learning experience.

I enjoyed myself and I also learnt a lot in the process of sharing my knowledge and experiences.
My thanks to the college authorities especially to the Deputy Principal who through his proactiveness arranged for these workshops. I went away satisfied when I sensed the positive attitude and motivation of the lecturers.

I hope to return to conduct more training workshops.

visitor from Bangkok

Taiping has a very powerful drawing point-food!!! My dear friend has been here for only three days but she has tasted many of our local favourites such as satay, prawn noodle, chendol, popiah, char kuey teow, nasi bryani and many others.

But the most memorable for her was the food served in my neighbour's home yesterday. It was the celebration of the coulpe's 32nd wedding anninversary. The food was catered by a famous restaurant in Bagan Serai. Both the vegetarian as well as the other dishes were simply mouth watering, though a bit too spicy for the Chinese palate. The mango chutney was very refreshing and went well with the grilled chilli chicken. The mutton kurma was a delight for my grandsons. Tofu cooked with spicy tomato sauce is a new version of vegetarian cusine. The culmination of all this rich and spicy food was the moist butter and almond cake topped with creamy royal icing.

All went away fully satiated!!!

Before her departure she will be doing more retail therapy in the main wet market in Taiping, buying rojak sauce, ikan bilis, lau wong kua, beh teh saw and ....I don't know what else!!!

Teardrop monument in Bayonne,NJ

This is the latest monument in New Jersey. This anti terrorism monument was donated by Russia in memory of those who perished in the 911 attack on the twin towers. Located in Bayonne, it faces the Statue of Liberty and commands a good view of Manhatten skyline.

We located the place after a few enquiries because many people have not heard of this new monument. So those planning a visit to New York, check this place out.

Off to New York and Washington

Just recovered from a bout of flu and am now ready for this adventure.

Washington will be my second visit and I am looking forward to revisit some of the places.
But I am more excited about New York as this will be my first visit.

A friend has just shared her experience of going up the Statue of Liberty. She described the sense of claustrophobia as she climbed through the neck of Liberty and then rewarded with the wonderful panoramic view from the crown after this. I am certainly looking forward to live this experience.

Another friend recommended the new monument dedicated to anti terrorism. The forward I received showed this hugh tear drop mounted on a sculpture which was designed, produced and donated by Russia. This is the new tourist sight in ground zero.

I have to be selective for there are so many things to experience in this bustling city. Will be sharing my experiences later.

Hari Ibu 2009

The Lemons boys called from Beijing to wish me Happy Grandmothers' Day. It was uplifting to hear them sing the song in Chinese. I'm so proud of them. They have picked up the language so fast. This is a reminder that I have to put in more effort to pick up spoken Chinese. I take the easy way out, that is by watching TV shows. But I rely too much on the subtitles. Well, I will keep on with my weak effort and eventually I will succeed.

Golden gals

We had a good time yesterday. SSL Traders served an affordable set lunch for RM 9.90.

The main topic of conversation was the TMGS old gals function to be held on August 15. So bookmark this date. I believe that there will be plenty in store, not to mention the fellowship with former classmates and teachers.

This pic will keep you updated on some of the whos who in our club.
